Hydrogen Power Is Not Just For Vehicles
In the next 20 years or so we could be living in a hydrogen powered world, and not just hydrogen powered cars either. Researchers are currently working on building hydrogen powered cars, some already being available in the United States, with talks being that these cars will be more environmentally friendly. What's to say that many things in the future won't be hydrogen powered?
What's exciting to people is the fact that these fuel cells aren't going to burn anything. It combines hydrogen with oxygen which produces electricity, heat and water resulting in an environmentally friendly result, seeing as how cars will only emit water from their tail pipes reducing pollution.
So if running cars on hydrogen is going to produce less pollution then why not start looking into running many different things off hydrogen right? But it seems like researchers are already ahead of us there too. What about hydrogen powered computers and cell phones that will allow these electronics to run five, maybe even ten times longer then the typical lithium ion batteries being used today?
How about running homes and business on hydrogen? there's already aircraft testing using a Ford four-cylinder hydrogen engine that is able to run for four straight day's simulated at 65,000 feet. Researchers are trying to get the aircraft to run for around seven straight day's allowing this aircraft to observe data on flood management, fire spotting, disaster relief, etc. If a four-cylinder hydrogen engine allows an aircraft to run for four straight days, imagine what effect these engines could have on our vehicles, homes, businesses and electronics.
Who knows what we're going to see in the next 20 years. One thing we do know for sure is that we will probably see more hydrogen powered cars in our future, and maybe more than that. Maybe we will have laptop's that can run longer, or cell phones that will allow us to stay in touch longer, or aircraft's that can run for days.
If it's environmentally friendly, then why not research it further? Our world's not going to hold out forever, unless we can work at making things more environmentally friendly. Hydrogen power is the next best thing for our future economy and environment.
